The Reading Clinic of Central Indiana
Consultation
A significant number of below-benchmark students are not dyslexic, but at risk of failure if strategic supports are not put in place. We believe that when schools implement an effective screening → instruction → monitoring cycle, as part of their MTSS framework, all students benefit.
By sharing the research on this perspective, providing the support to evaluate and modify (when necessary) current practices, we can reduce the number of students that need interventions and increase the effectiveness and intensity of the interventions for those that require the additional support.
A range of consultation services are available to meet the unique needs of each district, school, or individual practitioner.

Services
Building a Reading Science Aligned Framework – This 5-hour in-person course includes lectures, readings, and co-planning and team collaboration sessions. This course is divided into two 2.5-hour sessions and is designed to be completed in two half-day sessions but may be completed as a full-day session if needed. This course may be modified to meet the needs of specific audiences, such as School Board Members, Central Office Staff, and other stake-holders seeking a more high-level understanding of Reading Science in order to support evidence-based decisions at a higher level.
Instructional Audit – This service provides districts and schools with a perspective on how well their literacy instruction, assessment, and curriculum components align. Through data analysis, close review of literacy curricula and instructional models, specific recommendations to ensure a clear understanding of strengths and areas of opportunity for growth are provided. This service is customized based on the complexity of the needs of the district or school. An initial 60 min. consultation to explore the scope of need is recommended and provided in-kind.
Dyslexia Responsive Schools – The service supports schools and districts to ensure they are in compliance with the Indiana requirements for dyslexia screening, awareness training, and appropriate Tier 2 and 3 interventions. This service may be tailored to address a small leadership group, or a more comprehensive group of individuals.
